Born in Greenville, SC, on August 5, 1939, she is survived by her devoted husband Elford Clyde Lane, Jr., to whom she gave 62 wonderful years of marriage; her daughters, Ellen Winburn (Lide Winburn, Jr.) and Monica Humpal (Steve Humpal); and grandchildren, Morgan and Gavin Humpal, and Duncan and Tanner Winburn adored her. We also cannot forget the sisters - Judy, Rose, and Linda and little brother Walker. Jean preceded them and we are sure Mama is catching her up on all the talk.
The joy she felt, and showed, to all of her family - including her church family that has sustained all of us - is legendary. Sylvia made her mark caring for others first, whether volunteering, as a pianist and singer, as a certified medical assistant, ensuring folks medical bills were paid by managing health claims, or as our favorite babysitter and maid.
We are also thankful for the many delicious recipes she leaves behind, and we’ll do our best to infuse as much love as she did in feeding everyone she considered family - which is pretty much everyone without regard or judgment. With everything fixed just so, we will celebrate this beautiful woman and life on Thursday, April 4, 2024, 1:00 pm, at Lebanon Methodist Church,10220 Garners Ferry Rd, Eastover, SC 29044, followed by a graveside service and joyous fellowship - just as she carefully planned.
In lieu of flowers, Sylvia asked for contributions to the Lebanon Methodist Building Fund at the address above or here: https://lebanonmceastover.org/Give - please notify the church at [email protected] with details or questions.
