

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Walter Carlisle “Trey” Kannaday, III, 43, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Trey died unexpectedly Thursday, January 15, 2015. Born in Atlanta, Ga., he was the son of Rosemary Orr Kannaday and the late Walter Carlisle Kannaday, Jr. He graduated from Hammond School in 1989; Wofford College in 1993; and Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., in 1997. Trey was an attorney, certified public accountant, certified internal auditor, certified treasury professional and was employed by the State of South Carolina for many years. Trey was a member of The Palmetto Club, United States Tennis Association League, Men’s Supper Club and was currently serving on the SC Board of Accountancy. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of The Porch Sunday school class. Trey was full of life and was a kind and outgoing person who made a friend wherever he went. Trey enjoyed tennis, fishing and loved spending time with his wife and daughter, whom he adored, as well as his family and friends. Trey was loved by many and will be truly missed.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Melissa, and their young daughter, Ella Carlisle, who were the joys of his life; mother, Rosemary of Columbia; sister, Kimberly Long and her husband, Gary of Birmingham, Ala.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Faye Harris of Aiken; sister-in-law, Lauren Harris and her fiancé, Michael Barber both of Macon, Ga.; one niece and two nephews.
