Born on June 19, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lilian Kaczmarek. She grew up in Baltimore with her siblings Eugenia, Joseph Jr., Gerald, and Raymond, all of whom predeceased her.
Virginia attended St. Elizabeth’s School and Catholic High of Baltimore. She later married Brian Williams, and together they raised their family. A devout Catholic, she lived her faith daily and drew strength and comfort from her prayers.
The greatest joy of Virginia’s life came when she became a grandmother. She poured her love and energy into her grandchildren—Kingston Lindner, Marissa Williams, Marley Lindner, Haley Williams, and Lola Smith. She delighted in celebrating birthdays, traveling cross-country to visit, babysitting, and supporting their care when their parents were working. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she shared countless tender moments with each of them. One of Grandma's most cherished memories was a family trip to Walt Disney World, a lifelong dream fulfilled when she was able to experience the magic surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Virginia will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family but also for her kindness to others. Friends and acquaintances often said she was the nicest person they had ever met, a reflection of the gentle, caring spirit she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Williams Lindner (Jonathan) and April Williams Wheeler; her daughter-in-law Kristine Williams; and her beloved grandchildren Kingston, Marissa, Marley, Haley, and Lola. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, and her son, Brian Williams Jr.
A private service will be held at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina. A celebration of life will be held in Baltimore at a later date.
Her family takes comfort in her favorite prayer, Hail Mary, which was a guiding light in her life.
