William "Bill" Bailey Kauric

Born in Enid, Oklahoma, he was a son of the late William James Kauric and Ruby Bailey Kauric. He married Janice Lee Mabry Kauric on June 19, 1971.

Bill lived with heart problems throughout his life, which placed some limitations on his physical activities. However, he did not let those limitations keep him from enjoying the things he loved. He practiced fencing with boys who could compete and taught girls how to fence and compete in fencing while at Clemson University.

Bill developed a passion for architecture at a young age after learning about the work of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He dreamed of becoming an architect, and that dream became a reality when he graduated from Clemson University’s School of Architecture in 1970.

He began his professional career working for Jones & Fellows, then worked with the University of South Carolina, before eventually deciding to establish his own architectural firm. Over the course of more than 45 years, Bill helped numerous churches be built or expanded. He also enjoyed the challenge of renovating buildings for new or expanding businesses. His architectural vision and “blueprint” efforts can still be seen throughout communities he served.

Bill was also active in his community and enjoyed serving others. He was a member of Eastover Ruritan and served as the president for several years. He also served as a “counter” for several oyster roasts.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Lee Mabry Kauric; a sister, Brenda McKay (Bentham); two sisters-in-law, Karen M. Kennedy (Dan) and Carol M Luneburg (Mark), several nephews and nieces; and cousins in South Carolina, Texas and Pittsburgh, PA.

Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ringer.

He will be remembered for his love of architecture, his creativity, his determination to pursue his dreams, and the many lives and communities touched by his work.
