COLUMBIA – A celebration service for William (Bill) Cecil Cline, 87, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors. The Rev. Joe Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
He left this world on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the WJB Dorn Veterans Warrior’s Walk Hospice Center. Born in Montgomery Alabama, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Elsie May Cline. He was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church.
He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp at the end of World War II as a military police then transferred to the U.S. Air Force for three years. He reentered the U.S. Air Force during the beginning of the Korean War for three more years. While serving in the Air Force he received two medals for his time spent in Japan. He was a long distance truck driver for more than 40 years; logging more than 1 million miles across our great nation. He then drove for Busy Bee Tour lines for 13 years. He truly loved working outdoors and for all his life was a very hardworking man.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Bernice Alice Cline; sons, Dennis Cline (Patricia) of Lexington and William Cline of Columbia; daughter, Barbara Johnson (Gary) of Lexington; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Louise (Richard) Adamson, Linda (Ray) Dole, and Barbara (Sid) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl (Jerry) Cline, Thomas Henry Cline Jr., James (Jimmie) Cline, Melvin Cline, Clarence (Cindy) Cline, Robert (Minnie) Cline, and Rev. Floyd (Frankie) Cline.
