COLUMBIA - Winslow Saylor “Pete” Jumper, 98, passed away on August 20, 2015. He was born February 21, 1917 in Calhoun County, S.C. He was the son of the late Vandy Saylor Jumper and Carrie Tate Jumper. He was the husband of the late Magoline Gill Jumper. Mr. Jumper served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received active duty training aboard the USS Missouri and was later assigned to the USS Boston. He also served in the Naval Reserves and later the Army National Guard. He was retired from the Railway Express Co. His lifetime hobby was growing vegetable gardens. Mr. Jumper was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Winnette J. Viselli and his loving son-in law, Frank Viselli, and his daughter, Linda Horton, of Columbia; grandchildren, Torie V. Nlome (Jonas), Melissa V. Webster (Trenton), of Columbia and Charles L. Horton Jr. of Knoxville Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Taylor Viselli, (USAF), Hailey Nlome, Jimmy, John (US Army), Kiyone and Shelby Webster of Columbia, Chelsea and Trey Horton of Knoxville Tenn.; great-great-grandchildren, Bubbie and Noah Horton of Knoxville Tenn.; sisters, Lellan J. Smith of Lexington, Zelda J. Boney of Blythewood and Nell J. Cooke of West Columbia. He was preceded in death by sisters, Analda J. Harrell and Carolyn J. Williams; and brothers, Kelly, Ralph, Frank and Phil Jumper. A funeral service will be held at 3pm Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 303 Oak Grove Rd., Swansea, S.C., 29160, with Rev. Jimmie Farmer officiating, burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the Brian Center of St. Andrews, for their care and support during Mr. Jumper’s final years.
