

Columbia- A Celebration of Life Service for Yvonne "Big Red" Hydrick Gray, 66, will be held 6:00 pm Thursday May 3, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine St. Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at Brookland Baptist Church Empowerment Center at 539 North Street in West Columbia.
Big Red set sail from this life Sunday, April 29, 2018 and was born January 27, 1952 in Columbia to Odell and Minnie Brown Hydrick. She was the oldest girl in her sibling set of 8 children. A creative spirit that was fiercely independent, she owned her spotlight, was the best cook in her family and was a peacemaker in the family that she was forever loyal to. If you crossed Big Red’s path once, you would never forget her.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Bill Gray, brothers, Odell Hydrick, Jr., Wearn Hydrick.Those left to cherish her memories include her siblings; Chester Hydrick, Susan Harris (Bob), Mozelle Jones (Bernard), Liz Deas (Al). Porter (Ray) of Charleston, SC, Alicia D. Hydrick, Debbie Deas of San Diego, CA, Ashley Deas Shephard (Marshall) of Atlanta, GA, nephews, Robert B. Harris, Jr.,Bryan H. Hydrick (Hope), Brent O. Harris, Cuhma Udensi, Kenyatta C. Murray (Dianna), Conrad Deas (Jennifer) and two Goddaughters, Kelly Lewis Daniels and Dee Dawkins Haigler (LTC. David Haigler).
