CONCORD-Ann Douglas Hoagland, Age 85, of East Concord and Alton Bay, New Hampshire passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Presidential Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Concord after a period of failing health. She was born on March 3, 1931 in Lowell, Massachusetts to Walter and Virginia “Ginny” (Shelton) Douglas and was raised as their beloved only child. Ann graduated in 1949 from Lowell High School and went on to attend Garland Junior College in Boston, where she earned a degree in Interior Decorating. On June 25, 1955 Ann married Robert “Bob” Hoagland at The Baptist Meeting House in Alton Bay, New Hampshire. Together they built a home in Concord, raised two children - Heidi and Jon, and owned Hoagland’s Auto Body Shop. They loved to make a fun time for their family and friends and were known to play an elaborate prank now and then. Ann took great joy in the happiness of her loved ones and was tremendously generous. Ann was a talented homemaker, designer, gardener, painter, seamstress and fashion enthusiast. Before marriage, she modeled for Cherry & Webb catalogue. She made beautiful clothes for herself, her children, and her grandchildren. She painted in watercolor and oil and planted a beautiful garden every spring. Her creativity seemed to know no limits. Ann was a long-time member of both the East Concord and Alton Bay Garden Clubs and had a deep knowledge and appreciation of plants. She owned several rescued dogs and was a true animal lover. Ann was an incredibly vibrant woman who lived her life to the fullest, enjoying simple pleasures: the sun sparkling on Lake Winnipesaukee, chatting with friends and family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ann was predeceased by her parents; brother, Shelton who died in childhood; husband, Bob and daughter-in-law Linda (Guimond) Hoagland. Left to honor Ann and remember her love and life are Ann’s two children, Heidi (Hoagland) Little and Jon Hoagland; her son-in-law, Jerry Little; her son’s partner Sharon Wells; her grandsons Josh Hoagland and Jesse Hoagland; her granddaughter, Lindsay (Little) Baker; her grandson-in-law Steve Baker; Wells’ daughter Jillian Palisi; and her two great-grandsons, Baeritt and August Baker. I took care of your mom briefly while at home. I work for crvna and I instantly fell in love with her! She was the sweetest woman I've met in a very long time. Every time I drive by her house as I live only a min from hers, I would look over briefly to see if everything looked good, lights on and no cars etc late at night. She reminded me if my own gram. S o learning this today saddens my heart a bit. I'm deeply sorry to her children and grandchildren. She deeply loved you. We'd sit and have conversations about how proud of you all she was! She will be missed!
