Catherine Carter-Hancock, whose life journey took her from Texas to Florida and ultimately Connecticut, passed away while in hospice care in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 2:10 p.m. EDT. She was 93 years old.
A multi-degreed librarian, writer, and musician, Catherine was a passionate feminist known for her sharp intellect, acerbic wit, and unforgettable and powerful presence and personality. She approached life with conviction, curiosity, and a strong sense of self that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Her passing follows a long illness and comes just over two years after the loss of her beloved life partner.
Catherine is survived by her sons, Paul Miller and Sam Miller, and their families; and by her stepdaughter, Kimberly Handleman, and her family.
