Charlene B. Clark (89), loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023. She was surrounded by her children and their spouses, holding hands and praying as she made her trip to heaven.
She was born in Milo, Maine, to Freda M. (Stevens) and Stanley M. Brown. She graduated from Milo High School, then Husson College in Bangor, Maine. Later she returned to college, added to her degree, and graduated with honors.
As a girl, she attended a Christian camp where for the first time she learned of salvation through Jesus Christ. She later understood fully her need and accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She read her Bible daily and walked with God for 40 years.
She was a devoted mother and example to her three children, Bryan Clark and his wife Kelly from Dunbarton, NH, Rand Clark and his wife Susan from Dayton, ME, and Becky Beauregard and her husband Richard from Concord, NH. She also leaves nine grandchildren: Christopher Clark and his wife Megan, David Clark, Andrew Clark, Meghan White and her husband Timothy, Kate Giroux and her husband Mason, Daniel Clark and his wife Brady, JJ Clark and his wife Kristi and Emily Beauregard, Matthew Beauregard and 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
At a time of limited choices as a single parent, to either marry or go on welfare, she chose to do neither! Through character and hard work, she blazed her own trail. She worked at New Hampshire Hospital for 27 years. After retirement, she worked and raised money for Operation Santa Claus. She also served in children's ministry for many years at Trinity Baptist Church in Concord, and was affectionately known as “Gram” to many and could often be found attending Trinity Christian School sporting events. She was generous, kind, thoughtful and at the same time a handful!
She enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. She enthusiastically rooted for the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots. She was an avid reader, loved stopping at yard sales with friends and was often found working on jigsaw puzzles. At Havenwood, which was her home for the last few years, she was given a space where she and her friends would work on puzzles together.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Trinity Christian School Scholarship Fund, (80 Clinton Street Concord, NH 03301).
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on September 25, 2023 at 1pm
80 Clinton St, Concord, NH, with a reception to follow. A burial will be held at Abbot Cemetery on September 26, 2023 2pm.
