

Salisbury, NH – Dorothy M. (McAlister) Bartlett, 96, lifetime resident of Salisbury, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the Concord Hospital – Franklin, surrounded by family. Dot, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born on March 31, 1928, in Salisbury, NH to her late parents Myron and Beatrice (Holmes) McAlister. She graduated from Franklin High School with the Class of 1945. Dot worked for the US Postal Service for 23 years and spent 18 of those years as the Postmaster of Salisbury.
Dot was a selfless and caring person, who wholeheartedly believed in supporting her community through both her church and belonging to a couple of different civic organizations. She was an active member of the Bartlett Grange since 1944 and at the state and national levels as well, and she was also the leader of the Bartlett Junior Grange for 30 years. Dot also gave back to her community by serving as the president of the Ladies Fire Auxiliary. For recognition of her community support, she served on the town’s bicentennial planning committee and was also named as Citizen of The Year in 1977. Dot was a devout parishioner at Salisbury Congregational Community Church, where she held several offices from teaching Sunday School to working as the clerk for many years.
Dot, who was both a beacon of light and pillar of her community, did enjoy some of the quieter activities in life. She loved keeping her mind sharp either doing the daily crossword puzzle or anything else that is challenging to solve. Never seen without a coffee or a donut in hand, Dot was an inspiration and touched many lives in many different circles, where she will be fondly loved, cherished and missed by all.
Dot who was the beloved matriarch of her family is survived by her two daughters; Kathy Lovejoy and her longtime partner John Boyer of San Diego, CA and Wendy Wallace and her husband Ken of Colorado Springs, CO. She was the beloved Gram to her two granddaughters, Alicia and Danna and G.G. to her four great-grandchildren; Aiden, Jessa, Emberly, and Bryson. Dot is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, her three stepbrothers Harry, Michael, and Mark York and her cherished grand dogs.
Visiting hours for Dot will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 6 – 8 PM at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11 AM at Salisbury Congregational Community Church, 13 Franklin Road, Salisbury. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 at the Maplewood Cemetery, 143 Old Turnpike Rd, Salisbury.
