Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, Edward was the son of Edward and Adele Maloof and one of six children. He was a 1957 graduate of Norwood High School. Following graduation, Edward proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force as a boom operator with a refueling squadron, retiring as a master sergeant. This was just the beginning of a lifelong love affair with aviation that would shape his life and career.
After his military service, Edward’s passion for flight carried him through decades of work in the skies. He became a flight instructor at the Hampton Airfield and later flew for Precision Airlines and Northwest Airlink out of Manchester, New Hampshire. He also worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Connecticut before transferring to the FAA office in Concord. In 1989, Edward was hired by the New Hampshire State Police as a pilot in the aviation unit, serving the State and the Governor until 2000, and continuing to assist as needed thereafter.
For more than two decades, Edward was the Senior Flight Instructor at Concord Aviation Services at Concord Airport. He mentored countless students and returning pilots, helping them achieve their goals, refine their skills, and realize lifelong dreams of flight. Aviation was not just his career—it was his calling.
A cancer survivor, Edward understood the importance of showing up for others. He volunteered with the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program, offering kindness, conversation, and steady support to patients traveling to and from their treatments. He also served his hometown as a former selectman in Boscawen and was a proud member of the United Flying Octogenarians.
Above all else, Edward’s greatest joy was his family. When asked what he wanted for any celebration or occasion, his answer was always simple: “I just want the kids.” And the kids made it happen—filling his life with laughter, love, and countless treasured memories.
Edward was predeceased by his brother Paul Maloof, his sister Suzanne Ayoub, and his infant brother Steven.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Maloof of Boscawen; his son, Guy Maloof of Danbury, NH; his daughter, Audra Breault and her husband David of Dunbarton, NH; his stepson, Sean Sweeney and his wife Robyn of Epsom, NH; his stepdaughter, Nicole Duckworth and her husband Ken of Gloucester, MA; and his six beloved grandchildren, Emma, Heather, Daniel, Benjamin, Jude, and George. He is also survived by his brother David Maloof; his sister Marilyn Sullivan; his former wife, Doris Smith; his Concord Aviation Services family; and many other family members and friends.
