
He was born in Flushing, New York on November 19, 1926 a son of Frank C. and Hazel (Ahern) Babineau. He was raised in Concord attended schools here. He graduated from St. John’s High School in 1944.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. LST 221 and the APA – 69. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Following his military service, Mr. Babineau attended the Embry Riddle School of Aviation, graduating as a licensed aircraft and engine mechanic in 1951.
On November 17, 1951 he married Claire Beaudet at St. Anthony’s Church in Manchester. They lived in Claremont for many years after. Mr. Babineau was employed as a machine design engineer at Bryant Grinder Corp. in Springfield, VT from 1950 until his retirement in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Claremont, serving as past president of the Pastoral Council. He spent his retirement years as an avid fisherman and woodworker. He also traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Claire Babineau of Canterbury, NH and Sunrise beach, TX; a son, John Babineau and his wife Lori of Austin, TX; a daughter, Jane Nugent and her husband Brent of Salisbury, NH; 6 grandchildren, Johnathan, Carlyn Claire and Sommerlyn Babineau and Ashlee, Michael and Matthew Nugent and a great grandson Corbin.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 13 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Church on Concord, NH. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Claremont, NH.
