Today is Sept 14, 2019 and I had Gary on my mind. Thought I do research and try to reach him. It was with such shock to learn of his death. Through out the years I would think of him and his kindness. We met at McConnell AFB Civil Engineer Unit, in the early 70s. My husband had been assigned there and I was working as a secretary.  I was one of 2 women working there with 40+ men and it was the 70s and those men were beyond cruel to me. Gary defended me and became our friend. After the military service we stayed in touch on and off.  I remember his marriage and the log home he built or had built, his cats n so much more.  We saw each other again in the late 80s when we took trip up east. He showed up in those spandex and our daughter thought he was going surfing 😂. Oh Gary, now it saddens me to learn so late that you now walk with angels and I learned of it so late. Still you made a friend forever. See you on the other side my friend. 🙏🏻

My deepest sympathies, Mr. and Mrs. Kerr on the passing of your son, Gary.  I was on dam inspection trips with him in the 1980s and 1990s when he was a civil engineer with the Water Resources Board in Concord NH and I was the FERC counterpart civil engineer for the FEDS.  We inspect big and small hydroelectric dams in the state of NH in his Jeep Cherokee 4WD through floods, mud-rutted unpaved dirt roads and angry dam owners.  I shall miss his spandex outfits which he wore to outrage in a way but he had a sharp wit, good sense of hydraulics and very plain speaking. He was one of a kind and a compassionate man with a heart.  St Peter should open the gates for him.  I shall pray for his soul.  Sorry for being late, I was out on inspections in upstate New York and haven't heard from Gary since he retired from the NH Water Resources Board.  We corresponded on and off but I lost his home address when I moved. Again, deepest condolences. I have known Gary for several years. He earned his amateur radio license through one of my entry level classes.  He later,upgraded from Technician Class to General Class.  His ham call was KB1OYH.  He was also a member in good standing of the Central NH Amateur Radio Club.  He will be missed.

Gary was a good friend, and great to work with on the railroad.He will be greatly missed. Gary, May you rest in Peace

Gary was a good friend and a gentle person. On August 4 Sandhy and I returned from a day a York beach and found 2 bottles of stir fry sauce between the doors. I knew Gary dropped in, for he did love to participate in making a good stir fry. The next day I sent him an email which he never got to read. I am really sorry that we missed him that day!

Thank you for all the condolences. I am Gary's brother, but I did not really know him very well. But I do know that he retired early to spend a decade doing what he loved most--being around trains. If he knew his life would be so short, there is no better decision he could have made. Rest in peace, brother.

I have know Gary since 1984, when I started working at Water Resources.  I was glad to call him my friend.  He had a passion for Hydro, Trains, and whatever else he got involved with.  He was a past boart member for SEA, past President of his condo association, up in Northfield.  I knew he was smart, because I played chess with him.   But there was some thngs about Gary that I did not know.   I did not know his middle name, how long he was in the airforce, or what he did.  Gary I will miss our talks, and  our lunches.  I hope you and Alan are having a good game of chess.  Gary,  I hope they are not giving you a hard time up there about those bright tight outfits you loved to wear.

I worked with Gary for 10 years on the Winnipesaukee Scenic railroad. It was always fun. I will miss him.

I did not know Gary well, but had met him through other railfans. Whenever I would see him trackside, or out railfanning himself, he always was willing to pass along some rail info and talk trains. I'm sure he will be missed, but fondly remembered, by all those he made an impression on. May you rest in peace Gary.

My sympathy to the Family of Gary. I just knew a little about him when I was once in a great while attending the NHRRA meetings. 
     Within the last two years late in life , I also changed my career. I'm now a railroad worker. I work for MBCR as an electrician. I'm proud like Gary was proud as well.
      I hope to live to see the day I can take a train from Derry to Boston, or Derry to Manchester , then Montreal.

Every once in a while, Gary would drive by our house, on a busy road. He would sound his horn with 2 long beeps, one short, and one long. We will miss you.

Gary was not only an employee, he was a steady, dedicated conductor or engineer when needed, and a great friend as well. He and I 'shared a ride' in the cab of locomotive #2370 that neither of us would ever forget--and we formed an even closer bond as a result. His very frequent e-mailed videos, etc., about our beloved cats, our joint love of aviation photography and just 'stuff' about being born in the forties and how it somehow made us different (maybe better) than folks born more recently. It all made Mariannes' and my life so much more enjoyable viewing it all --with a lot of laughter and tears, along with some deserved 'oows and ahhs.'
