Grace Elizabeth Cannon

CONCORD- Grace E. (Conway) Cannon, 90, of Concord passed away at home January 6, 2016, while being lovingly cared for by her family and friends. She was born September 13, 1925, to Steve and Beatrice (McGonagle) Conway in Malden, MA. She was a graduate of Chevrus High School in Malden.

Grace loved flowers and was an avid gardener. Painting, sewing and cooking were just a few of her many talents. Her beautiful handmade presents have for many years been the centerpiece of Christmas. Being a gracious person, opening her home to all has to be at the top of her talents list. Her house has always been the center for gatherings planned as well as impromptu. She was happiest when her house rang with laughter and joy.

Grace was predeceased by her parents as well as her sweet granddaughter Stephanie Pierce and beloved brother Frank Conway.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lawrence Cannon; and her children, Michael Cannon and wife Kathleen of Wells, ME, Lawreen Murphy and husband William of Boscawen, NH, Patricia Noel and husband Leon of Lincoln, NH, Christine Wood and husband Greg of Concord, NH, Mary Grace Cannon – her special child- of Concord.

She leaves 6 grandchildren: Brette, Dana, Abby, Brandon, Jacob and Emily as well as 13 great-grandchildren. She leaves her best friend and Brother James Conway of Stoneham, MA as well as her very dear sister Joan Kehoe of Ocean View, DE and many, many nieces and nephews.

Members of Grace’s family include 57 Catholic Charity infants that Grace and Larry gave loving care to over the course of 20 years. All of these beautiful babies were loved as one of their own.

A visiting hour will be held on Tuesday January, 12 at 10:00 am at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, NH, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH will follow immediately. Following services there will be a celebration of her life at Alan’s restaurant in Boscawen.
