Hazel M. Olkonen, 97, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 of natural causes surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Washington, NH and lived most of her life in Hopkinton, NH with her husband Toivo Arthur Olkonen, who passed in 1998.
Hazel loved to host family gatherings and started many family traditions that are still celebrated today.
She will be greatly missed by her son Arthur and daughter-in-law Carol Olkonen, daughter Corney and son-in-law John Carter, and also by her grandchildren Brian Carter, Hope Haynes, Todd Olkonen, and Jennifer McDonnell. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren and all of the wonderful people who cared for her during the last eleven years at Merrimack County Nursing Home.
A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at her son’s home in Hopkinton, NH.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bennett Funeral Home in Concord.
