Henry G. Resling, affectionately known as Hank, was a man who touched countless lives as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and husband. Born in Long Island, New York, his journey took him across the country from Colorado to Washington, New Hampshire to Florida, always bringing with him a spirit of adventure, laughter, and devotion to family.
Hank dedicated much of his life to service. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard and USCG Reserve, with postings in Puerto Rico, Seattle, and New York. He also retired as a New York State Police Investigator, serving the communities of Upstate New York and Long Island. Through it all, he carried himself with integrity, courage, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Beyond his work, Hank's heart was with his family. He loved the simple joys of life, boating on the open water, fishing offshore, beach trips with loved ones, and the endless horizon of the ocean he cherished so deeply. His energy and laughter were infectious, and his generosity and kindness left lasting impressions on everyone who knew him. Hank had a way of making people feel seen, supported, and cared for, no matter the circumstances.
Hank was predeceased by his brother, Robert Resling. He is survived by his devoted wife of twenty years, Cheryl A. Resling, who was his steadfast partner and companion. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Resling (Debra). Hank was the proud father of Henry G. "Hank" Resling Jr. (Tanya) and Jeffrey Resling (Kimberly). He welcomed his stepsons, Daniel Cheney and Chris Cheney (Katelyn), into his heart as part of his family.
Hank's love extended to his six grandchildren, Dagan, John Parker, Nathan, Alex, Nolan, and Lila, who were a constant source of joy and who will carry forward his spirit, his laughter, and the lessons he imparted through his life.
Hank's life was one of devotion, courage, and love. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left the world a better place simply by being in it.
