
CONCORD - Ida Mary (Parsons) Valla, 93, of Concord, NH passed away May 15, 2016 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Warren, VT on February 3, 1923, the daughter of Roy and Clara (Corse) Parsons.
She received her Bachelor’s from Keene Teacher’s College where she met her future husband Stephen Valla. Ida and Stephen married on June 23, 1946.
Ida was an elementary school teacher for many years at Walker School in Concord. She was a 50 year member of South Congregational Church in Concord.
Since Ida’s retirement in 1978, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. She was an amateur radio operator, KAIFMQ, a hobby she shared with her husband. She also enjoyed bird watching and knitting slippers. Her cinnamon rolls and apple pie were highlights of holiday dinners and coffee hours.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita and her husband Julio Antunes; and her daughter Sandra Gelinas. She is also survived by grandchildren Marc, Keith, Alison and John Gelinas, Melissa Dudek, Christopher Antunes and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Roy Parsons, a sister Juanita Nolan and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Stephen Valla and her sister Marjorie Bond.
A celebration of Ida’s life will be held at 10:15am on Thursday, May 19 in the Chapel of South Congregational Church, 27 Pleasant Street, Concord. Interment will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord.
