Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on June 5, 1941, Jane was the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Frazer) Mulligan.
Jane was the devoted wife of the late Raymond G. Lacasse, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories prior to his passing.
Her legacy lives on through her children and their families: her daughter, Laurie Lacasse Tzannos and her husband Nick of Weare, NH; her son, Gerry Lacasse and his wife Jen of Boscawen, NH; and her daughter, Kate Lacasse of Concord, NH.
Jane was a proud and loving grandmother who took immense joy in her family, especially in all of her beloved grandchildren. She is survived by her biological grandchildren: Riley, Maija, and Teegan Lucier; Aidan and Livie Lacasse; and Alexis(Spears) Day (and her husband Fred) and Wade Spears Jr. She also leaves behind her step-grandsons, Nick and Austin Tzannos, and was the "Great-Meme" to her three great-grandchildren, Averie, Everett, and Kennedy Day. Jane now joins her granddaughter, Marion Lacasse, who predeceased her.
Jane came from a large and loving family. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Joan, and her brother, Henry Mulligan, along with his wife Anne.
She is survived by her siblings, who will miss her dearly: David Mulligan and his wife Peg; Nancy Ashley (whose husband Wink predeceased her); Carol Fredette (whose husband Cleo predeceased her); and Joe Mulligan (predeceased by wife, Vivian) and his wife Donna. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who fondly remember "Aunt Jane”.
Jane’s journey was defined by her devotion to others. In 1959, she entered the convent with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Medford, MA, where she served until 1967. Shortly after, life took a beautiful turn when she met the love of her life, Raymond, on a blind date. They married in 1969, beginning a 47-year partnership rooted in faith and family. Together, they served as the Christian Education Directors at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Concord, NH, fostering a spiritual home for many.
Her lifelong commitment to learning began at St. Joseph School in Medford and Matignon High School in Cambridge. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Regis College and later her graduate degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Jane’s impact on New Hampshire education was profound and far-reaching. She began her career in the classroom as a First Grade Teacher at Boscawen Elementary, eventually transitioning into leadership as the Principal of Boscawen Elementary and later the Principal of Lamprey River Elementary. Between her principalships, she was the Executive Directorfor The Academy of Applied Science (an innovator in STEM programming). Her dedication earned her three NH Excellence in Education (EDies) awards, including the prestigious Teacher of the Year in 1987. She remained an influential figure in the field as an original member of the EDies Committee and concluded her career in retirement as the Director of Graduate Studies for Plymouth State University’s Concord campus.
Beyond her professional accolades, Jane was a woman who found joy in the world and the people in it. She was an avid reader and an adventurous traveler. Above all, she loved to gather. Whether it was a large family holiday or a meeting of her beloved "St. Paul's Group," Jane was in her element when surrounded by family, friends, and laughter. She will be remembered for her loving heart, intellect, her grace, and her unwavering belief in the potential of every student she met.
