Jeffrey graduated from Lynn Trade School in 1963 and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Science, specializing in electromechanical technology. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. Following his military service, Jeffrey worked at Kentron and Champion Lamp before beginning a nearly 40-year career as a shift leader at Osram Sylvania.
Jeffrey was a man of many interests and an even bigger heart. He had a lifelong fascination with antique cars and motorcycles, enjoyed keeping up with current events, spending time in nature, listening to music—particularly Johnny Cash—and reading the Sunday paper with a hot cup of coffee nearby.
His garage was a place of wonder, where he loved sharing trinkets, inventions, and science experiments with children. He had a natural ability to spark curiosity and put smiles on the faces of those around him. Jeffrey was also deeply compassionate toward animals and generously supported charities that helped people and animals in need.
Some of Jeffrey’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends. He especially loved hosting his annual Fourth of July gatherings, where dozens of relatives and friends would come together as he proudly set off fireworks and celebrated the people he loved. His joy came from making others happy, creating memories, and bringing people together.
Jeffrey was a loving husband to his wife, Lorraine Cooper, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He was a protective and affectionate father to his daughters, Rachel McDowell and her husband, Scotty McDowell; Katie Canney and her husband, David Canney; and Julie Henry and her husband, Matt Henry. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Snyder; his brother, Brian Cooper; and his beloved grandchildren, Cameron, David, Theresa, Grace, Harper, Alice, Abe, and Ruby.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his parents, Irven and Helen Cooper.
Those who knew Jeffrey will remember his generosity, curiosity, sense of wonder, compassion, and remarkable ability to put a smile on someone’s face. His love for his family, friends, animals, and the simple joys of life will remain a lasting part of the memories he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to local animal shelters or the Alzheimer’s Association in Jeffrey’s memory.
