

CONCORD – John D. Fransway, 68, died on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Pleasant View Center, in Concord, NH.
Fransway was born on September 23, 1946, in LaCrosse, WI, the son of John H. and Susan (Crail) Proctor. He attended Central High School in LaCrosse, WI and graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He volunteered with VISTA working with the West Harlem Community Organization.
Fransway worked for the New Hampshire DHHS as an Administrator for the Office of Health Planning and Medicaid. He was an advocate for affordable daycare and worked tirelessly to provide funding and services to poor working parents. He believed that child care was the, “single most important supportive service.” He served as an Administrator for The Day Care Center in Norwich, VT and as a Director for the VT Department of Health Services.
Passionate about standardbred horse racing, he was a trainer, breeder, owner and USTA member for 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Deborah (Williams) Fransway, of Weare, NH; two sons, Spencer Fransway and his wife Alexandra; Dylan Fransway and his wife, Morrigan; three daughters, Maron Levesque; Raina Levesque; Alana Dust and her husband, Alan; and one grandson, Oren.
A memorial open house will be held Friday, July 3 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m at Sugar Hill Farm; 125 Sugar Hill Road; Weare, N.H. 03281. Drop-ins welcome.
