

Born in North Epirus, Greece, and a resident of Concord for seventy years, Katherine Pappas Charcalis, 93, passed away on March 10, 2017, at home with her loved ones by her side. Particularly devoted to her family, she will be remembered for being accepting, encouraging, and most loving by her children, who in turn respected and loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband William G. Charcalis, son George W. Charcalis, parents Polixene and George Pappas, and brothers Constantine Pappas and Dr. Apostolos Pappas.
After graduating from Julia Richmond High School in New York City and working as a stenographer, she married and moved to Concord. Throughout her life she was by her husband’s side at William the Tailor – Drycleaners/Furriers, William’s Men’s and Boys’ Wear, and Star Hot Dog restaurant. Later she worked at Blue Cross-Blue Shield and often shared warm memories of her work there. A life-long member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, she also was a member of the Ladies of Philoptochos Society.
She is survived and will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Bruce Erskine of Germantown, Tennessee; son, Harry W. Charcalis of Concord, who lovingly cared for her in her later years; son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Jeanne Charcalis of Stamford, Connecticut; sister, Kassiane Pappas Lekai of New York, New York; grandsons, Michael Erskine and his wife Sara of Germantown, Tennessee, and Mark Erskine and his wife Diana Comes of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughter, Mary Katherine Charcalis of Stamford; great-grandchildren Thomas and Bonnie Erskine of Germantown; sister-in-law, Victoria L. Pappas of Solana Beach, California, many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins, dedicated caretaker Faye, and the wonderful staff at CRVNA.
Visiting hours will be held at Bennett Funeral Home on March 15, 2017, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a Trisagion service at 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will take place March 16, 2017, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 11:00 A.M.
