He was born in Pittsfield on June 13, 1944, a son of Cecil and Alice (Barre) Baum. He was one of eight children with several step siblings.
In 1964, Larry entered the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed at the Sembach Air Base in Sembach, Germany. He was honorably discharged from Pease Air Force Base in 1968.
In 1969, he joined New England Telephone as an equipment installer where he worked for many years and through several company changes. He retired in 2004 after 35 years of service.
Larry was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judith of Concord; his daughter, Cheryl Crabtree and her husband, Matthew of Dunbarton and a son, Marc and his fiancé, Karen Young of Concord; several grandchildren, Ashleigh and Alex Crabtree and Mackenzie Baum.
Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, July 30 at the Bennett Funeral Home, 3 Church Street (The Brick Building), Concord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 31 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord. The committal will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Ministry Program of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord, NH 03301.
