Northfield--Lisa Anne Szanto, 59, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Thursday, April 7th at her home in Northfield, NH one day before her 60th birthday. Lisa was born on April 8th, 1962, in Concord, NH to Boldizsar Szanto and Suzanne (Seymour) Dewitt. Lisa graduated from Concord High School in 1980 and attended New Hampshire Technical Institute.
Lisa raised many animals during her childhood and especially loved her horse, Jenny, and her many dogs. She had an untamed spirit always challenging the boundaries of life leading to many adventures and wild stories. She loved helping others and will be remembered for her kindness.
She could drive any vehicle and change the oil. Build a henhouse, fence, or shed. Inside her house she installed sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, wooden floors, cabinets and wallpaper. She prided herself on doing “mens work" but was equally talented at designing and sewing clothing, artwork, crocheting, knitting and embroidering. She was a jill (jack) of all trades but most of all, she enjoyed yard sales and Craigs List.
Lisa is survived by her father and stepmother Bo and Sandra Szanto, her mother and stepfather Suzanne and Wayne Dewitt, her children Travis Szanto, Edward Hill and James Zanni, and her brothers Dennis Szanto and Michael Szanto. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Anthony, Ameilya, Bentley, Emberleigh, Deino and Caleigh, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins in the U.S. and in her father’s home country of Hungary.
Lisa was predeceased by her beloved aunt and best friend, Leda Seymour, her grandparents Imre and Irma (Horvath) Szanto, her grandparents Alfred and Armande (Dallaire) Seymour, and her grandparents Hascall and Edna Stimson.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 22nd, from 5-7 PM at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 23rd at Bennett Funeral Home followed by a burial service at 12 AM at Blossom Hill Cemetery.
