CONCORD, NH – Margaret Anne Miles, 89, of Concord, NH, died December 6th. She was surrounded by her family who adored her. Born October 14, 1934 in New London, CT, Margaret graduated from American University where she met Matthew John Miles (deceased) her beloved husband of 64 years.
Margaret’s occupations included working in Washington, D.C. at the Library of Congress cataloging old book collections, and serving as a real estate paralegal at a law firm in Stamford, CT.
A polio survivor at the young age of six, Margaret went on to play field hockey, basketball, tennis and softball at American University where she was voted the “most outstanding woman athlete”. The navy always held a special place in Margaret’s life as a destroyer was named in her father’s honor, the USS John A. Bole, DD-755, after his submarine was lost at sea during World War II.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Miles Reese and her husband Sean, and her two granddaughters Megan Bethany and Skye Victoria. Margaret was a shining light in this world. She was constantly spreading God’s love through everything she did.
Her legacy of generosity, sacrificial love, humor, patience, kindness and gentleness will go on to blossom continually in all who knew her.
Donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to two very special organizations: Road to Independence (https://www.rti-aurora.org/), a non-profit pre-vocational training program for individuals with differing abilities, and The March Forth Foundation, Inc. (https://marchforthforjoe.com/) whose mission focuses on individuals under the age of 25 residing in the New York tri-state area – those in need of guidance, mentorship, or financial support to achieve success in their fields of passion.
