Michael grew up in Maryland where he became a Life Scout with the Boy Scouts. He was a fireman in Prince George’s county from 1966-67. He then joined the Marine Corps and served from 1967-72, during which time he served in Vietnam with the 9th Marines Regiment (‘69-’70). He then worked for NASA in security from 1972-78. In 1978 he returned to military service by joining the Coast Guard where he served the majority of his career on the west coast and in Alaska, retiring from the service in 1994 with the rank of RD1.
He loved building models (especially military vehicles) and dioramas. The detail was always researched for accuracy and was impeccable.
Michael died due to multiple exposures to the chemical Dioxin (agent orange) while in Vietnam. Please remember the many many heros of war who either died in the war or who died slowly due to the war.
