Patricia “Peg” Lapiska was born on September 7th, 1954 in Hartford, Connecticut into an Army family that molded her into an adaptable young girl who lived in 5 states and three foreign countries growing up. She, her big sister Annette, and her parents visited many countries in Europe and the Middle East and camped across America.
She graduated from Central High School in Aurora, Colorado in 1972 and from Colorado State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and a certification to teach secondary education.
She married Brad in 1977 and accompanied him to Virginia as he entered the Marine Corps. Peg, though raised very religiously, accepted Christ as her personal Savior there in Virginia after carefully reading her Bible all the way through to search what it said about knowing Jesus personally. After getting established in Christ, she began her career as a Christian School Teacher. Later she accompanied Brad to seminary in South Carolina as he answered God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During this time, Peg continued teaching secondary science while taking graduate school classes in Bible, counseling, and theology to enhance her ministry as a Pastor’s wife and as a Ladies Bible Class Teacher. She taught school for 20 years and then after retiring as a teacher, she began a second career working in a plant nursery caring for plants and helping people design landscapes for their yards. She continued to teach ladies Bible classes right up until dementia took away her ability to talk. Her ministry included invitations to speak at Christian Women’s Conferences in America, Uruguay, and Brazil.
She faithfully served as a wife, she delighted in her role as Julie and Christina’s Mom, and she had her most fun in life being Grandma to Hannah, Karalyn, Abby, Drew, and Connor. She is preceded in death by her beloved Dad and Mom and is survived by her sister Annette and family, her husband Brad, her daughters Julie (Mike) and Christina (Matt), her five grandchildren Hannah, Karalyn, Abby, Drew, and Connor, and a host of dear friends she served with from the four churches she served as a Pastor’s wife. A special thanks to the Granite VNA Hospice workers Colleen and Vanessa who compassionately cared for her the last year of her dementia, her daughters who devoted themselves to her care to her last day, and to the pastors and brothers and sisters in Christ from New City Church and Trinity Baptist Church who loved her, prayed for her, visited her and brought her joy during her years of dementia. We all sorrow for her loss, but not as those with no hope, for Peg is with her Lord now, awaiting the reunion with all those who, like her, love Jesus and trust In Christ Alone for their salvation.
Peg will be interred at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen in a private family ceremony.
