

BOSCAWEN-Philip James Kenney, 88, of Boscawen, NH passed away at Concord Hospital on June 26, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born on January 28, 1928 in Concord, NH, Philip graduated from Penacook High School in 1946 and graduated from the State Trade School in Manchester, NH with a degree in Auto Mechanics. He served in the US Army in Kobe, Japan from 1946-1947. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Philip established Kenney’s Garage with his brothers in 1946. It was later known as Kenney’s Garage and Auto Body and was managed and operated by Philip and his sons. Philip worked as a mechanic for 62 years before retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Boscawen Fire Department from 1955-1972, retiring as Deputy Chief. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing, family gatherings and vacationing at Wells Beach, Maine and in Florida.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Francis S. and Florence B. Kenney; brother, Edward A. Kenney and wife, Vivian; sister, Barbara M. Young and husband, Barry; brother in laws, Richard S. Young, Sr. and John J. Connor; daughter, Susan M. Kenney and grandson, David A. Kenney, Jr.
Members of his family include his wife of 47 years, Mary Ellen (Carlson) Kenney. Philip was a loving father to his children, Gary P. Kenney and wife Jill; Leigh Ann Housum and husband, Steven; David A. Kenney and friend, Ginny Martin; Michael W. Fisher and wife, Sally; Karen M. Bailey and husband, Dix; brother, Harold F. Kenney and his wife, Henrietta; sisters, Carol A. Young and Sarah R. Connor and friend, Larry Mickelboro. He will also be greatly missed by his 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday July 1, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home 209 N. Main St. Concord. A graveside service will take place on Saturday July 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery on Corn Hill Road in Boscawen.
