

Richard Allen Abrams, 80, of Contoocook, New Hampshire passed away at his home surrounded by family on February 3, 2024. Richard was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 5, 1943 to the late Eleanor and Barney Abrams. He is survived by his wife, Carol Abrams, two daughters, Donna Gilliatt and Lisa Cullinan and her husband Michael Cullinan. His two stepsons Bill Farese and Brian Farese, and his sister, Barbra Gradozzi and her husband Ronnie Gradozzi. He was also a proud grandfather to Marisa (Gilliatt) Al Sharif and her husband Taher Al Sharif, Taylor Gilliatt, Alec Gilliatt, Nicole Cullinan, and Joseph Cullinan.
Richard held various job titles throughout his career at Milton Caterpillar, including Field Service Power Generation Technician and Head Mechanic at the South Pole in Antarctica. He took great pride in his work and was highly respected by colleagues of all caliber within his field and around the world. In his leisure, Richard had a deep appreciation for history, a constant sweet tooth, a never-ending love for black licorice, an infatuation with his 1995 Buick Roadmaster, and most fondly, an enduring passion for travel, evident in his visitation to all seven continents, his favorite destination of all being New Zealand.
Richard Abrams will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his thirst for exploration, his unwavering commitment to those he held dear, and his unique ability to be regarded by so many as “one of a kind”.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Saturday, February 17, from 1:30-4:30pm at Andiamo Restaurant + Bar, located at 1268 Osgood Street North Andover, MA 01845.
