

With heavy hearts, the family of Robert “Mac” MacMillan MacLean Jr. announces his peaceful passing on November 2, 2025, at the age of 78. A lifelong resident of Concord, Mac was born on January 30, 1947, to Ruth and Robert MacLean Sr. of Concord, NH, and was raised with the strong values of service, family, and community.
Mac proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, dedicating his life to supporting his country. After retiring from the military, he continued that service through his work with the Veteran’s Affairs in Manchester, NH, where he worked for 17 years. During this time, he also furthered his education, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH.
A devoted member of the Masonic fraternity for more than 30 years, Mac was deeply engaged in Masonic life. He served as Master of Horace Chase Lodge in Boscawen, NH from 2006–2007, and was also an active member of the Scottish Rite.
Mac is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Larsen MacLean, his daughters Heather Jache and Holly Cheney, and his beloved grandchildren Sarah Jache and Nathan Cheney.
He is also survived by his sisters Nancy Philips and her husband Les of Surprise, Arizona; Betty Burrill and her husband Thomas of Concord; and Deborah Bourassa of Concord.
Mac was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Robert MacLean Sr., as well as his sister Patricia Andrews. He was also the grandson of Roger and Edith Strong of Concord.
When he wasn’t working, Mac found peace and joy at the family camp along the Contoocook River, where he loved tinkering and enjoying the quiet moments outdoors. He also enjoyed bowling 10-pin whenever he had the chance. One of his favorite yearly traditions was attending the Scottish Highland Games at Loon Mountain, where the massed bands and bagpipes brought him tremendous happiness.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 4–6 PM at Bennett Funeral Home, Concord NH. Funeral Service will be on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Bennett Funeral Home, with burial immediately following at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen NH.
Mac will be deeply missed by his family, friends, brothers in the fraternity, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, dedication, humor, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
