Born in Newfield, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late William and Marie (Labranche) Lalancette.
Stephen enjoyed a long and successful career as a millwright with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He belonged to Millwrights Local 1121, Boston, Massachusetts. A skilled craftsman with an inventive mind, Stephen was never afraid to take on a project. He built two homes, including the family residence in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, and loved tinkering, creating, and building all sorts of unique contraptions.
Outside of work, Stephen had many passions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, shooting, and smoking meat. He especially cherished traveling with Linda and the adventures they shared together. In his younger years, Stephen also enjoyed boxing, baseball and watching reruns of Leave it to Beaver and The Rifleman.
After retirement, Stephen continued to share his knowledge and skills, teaching part-time at St. Paul’s for two years. He was also very involved with FIRST Robotics, where his mechanical expertise and enthusiasm for building and problem-solving made him a valued participant.
Stephen will be remembered for his creativity, mechanical talent, adventurous spirit, and willingness to build, fix, and figure out just about anything. Above all, he treasured his family and the life he built with Linda.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Stephen leaves his sons, William-Andrew F. Lalancette and his wife, Kayla, and Jason Lalancette; his siblings, Eva Lalancette and her partner, Kevin Doyle, and Carol Odiorne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Andrew " Grib " Lalancette, William “Bill” Lalancette, and Patricia Watkins.
Stephen’s memory will live on in the many things he built, the knowledge he shared, the adventures he enjoyed, and, most importantly, in the hearts of the family and friends who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH. His Funeral Service will be Thursday, September 24, 2026 in the Funeral Home at 10:00 am followed by burial in New Hopkinton Cemetery.
