
Born in Jefferson, NH he was the son of Horace W. and Hyacinth (Corrigan) Summers.
He graduated from Groveton High School in 1935 and moved to Concord when he was in his 20s.
He worked as a machinist for Rumford Press for 35 years. During the 1950s he was a member of Ned Roberts Muzzle Loading Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was also a founding member of the Pioneer Sports Club in Dunbarton.
Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman and craftsman. He was a professional woodworker and gunsmith. He volunteered his time demonstrating Shaker woodworking techniques as well as making items for the Canterbury Shaker store.
He was a past member of the Blazing Star Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Mabelle B. (Birtwell) Summers of Concord; His son Peter J. Summers and his wife Vickie of Hernando, Florida; his daughter Leslie Manning and her husband Steven of Webster; and five grandchildren, Gregory Manning of Breckenridge, Co and Leah Manning of Webster; Kalen, Tanner and Skylar Summers of Florida; and his best friend and faithful companion, his dog Maxx.
He was predeceased by his sister Evelyn O’Rourke.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 12pm-1pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord. A celebration of his life will take place at 1pm.
