

Anna Lou Spencer Kaylor, age 92, of Conover, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, NC, after a brief illness. Born December 4, 1924 in Catawba County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Carroll McCoy Spencer and Viola Lucille Hollar Spencer.
Anna Lou was a graduate of the Rex Hospital School of Nursing in Raleigh, NC, and had worked as a registered nurse for both Richard Baker Hospital in Hickory, NC, and also for Catawba County Public Health. Following her retirement, Anna Lou volunteered for over 40 years with Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC, where she was a member of the Dorcas Society. Anna Lou was a devoted wife to her husband of 65 years, the late Hal Winfield Kaylor, helping him in his business and with his numerous civic activities with the city of Conover and Newton American Legion Post #16 and Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Hal, and her parents, Anna Lou was preceded in death by two brothers, C.M. Spencer, Jr., and Wilford Farrell Spencer, and a son-in-law, Ted Dallas Spencer.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Kaylor and wife Shelby of Wilmington, NC, Anna Carol Spencer of Conover, NC, Philip Kaylor and wife Debra of Claremont, NC, Eric Kaylor and wife Shelly of La Palma, CA, and Pamela Meyer and husband Rick of Corrales, NM; 15 grandchildren, Jason Kaylor, Allison Anders, Laura Spencer Hall, Erin Spencer Sigmon, Kaylor Spencer, Justin Kaylor, Jordan Kaylor, Jared Kaylor, Tyler Kaylor, Austin Kaylor, Isaac Meyer, Eli Meyer, Fran Greene, Stacia Buechlein, and Jamie Sumpter; great-grandchildren, Addie, Thomas, Kaylyn, Dallas, Hayden, Henry, Emma, Sloane, Lilly, Halle, Emery, Landry, and Morgan; and caregiver Betty Frazier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC, with Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 PM.
Anna Lou’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
