Mrs. Bernice Samples Holler

Mrs. Bernice Samples Holler, 99, of Conover, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 9, 2025, after a year of declining health. She was born on July 26, 1926, in Newport, Tennessee to the late John Robert Samples and Daisy Reneau Samples.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Lee Holler and brothers J.D. Samples, Walter (Bud) Samples and James (Jim) Samples.

She was a graduate of Hickory High School and earned a one-year business degree from Lenoir Rhyne College. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Conover, NC. She had previously worked at Southern Desk Company after college and then was a homemaker while her children were in school and served as secretary at Augustana Lutheran Church during those years. She later worked and retired from Business Services at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Bernice enjoyed reading, traveling, flower gardening and spending time with her family. She was especially proud of the fact that she lived to see all her children and grandchildren graduate from high school / college and get to see all her grandchildren’s weddings.

Surviving are her children: Anne Holler White (Dennis) of Shelby NC, William Brent Holler (Ava) of Hendersonville NC, David Mark Holler of Washington DC, Robert Bruce Holler (Michele) of Newton NC and Leslie Leigh Holler of Bethlehem NC.

Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Earline Samples of King NC and Carolyn Samples of Kernersville NC.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Josh White (Kim), Emily White Gantt (Rodney), William Holler (Beth), Laura Holler Owens (Chance), Bryant Miller (Brooke), Dr. Danielle Miller (Tyler Hendrix) and great grandchildren: Makayla White Campbell (Sammy), Andy and Joe Gantt, Makenna Owens, Emmerson and Jacqueline Holler, Beckham and Bentley Miller.

Services for Mrs. Holler will be conducted at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, NC at 2 PM on Sunday, August 17th, 2025, with Reverend Michael Geml officiating. Visitation will be at 1 PM prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following the service at Catawba Memorial Park, Newton, NC.

Serving as pallbearers are Josh White, Rodney Gantt, William Holler, Chance Owens, Bryant Miller and Tyler Hendrix.
