Bettie Power Baum, 90, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at Abernethy Laurels. Born in Rutherford College and raised in Conover, she was the daughter of the late Morris Luman Power and Mittie Lela Parks Power. She had moved to Virginia and lived there for 23 years before moving back to Conover, the town that she loved and the people who lived there. Going full circle, she will be buried with her family in Conover City Cemetery. Bettie was a former member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, and had retired from the furniture business as an inspector.
In addition to her parent’s Bettie was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years Milton Baum. She is survived by two sons; Philip McRee of Thomasville, and Neil McRee of Hickory, a daughter; Susan McRee Bumgarner of Taylorsville, three grandchildren; Stephanie Woosley of Taylorsville, Kyle McRee and his wife Stacy of High Point, Matthew McRee and his wife Megan of High Point, and great granddaughter; Leah Woosley.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM, at Conover City Cemetery with Rev. John Savage officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 217 2nd Ave NE, Conover, NC 28613
