

Billy Lee Hollar, age 83, of Claremont, passed away on Thursday, December 06, 2012 at Catawba Valley Hospice in Newton. Born October 5, 1929 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Clarence Carlee Hollar and Winnie Raby Hollar. He retired from the furniture industry where he worked as an upholsterer and was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church In Conover. Billy was an avid fan of nascar racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Hollar; and a brother-in-law, Ray Travis.
Billy was survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Hollar, of the home; sons, Gregory Lee Hollar and wife, Joyce, of Claremont, Gary S. Hollar and wife, Kassie, of Claremont; sister, Morene Travis of Claremont; sister-in-law, Elaine Hollar of Hickory; grandchildren, Breanna Hollar and Garrett Hollar; three nieces and one nephew.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul Birner officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #16.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peter’s Church Road, Conover, NC 28613.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Starnes, Eugene Pharr, Mitch Pharr Jr., Lawrence Hollar, Howard McCray, and Jerry Sherrill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Spirit Fund, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peter’s Church Road, Conover, NC 28613.
