Charles Gordon Miller, 80, of Conover, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at his residence. Born March 26, 1938 in Martinsburg, West Virginia, Charles was the son of John H. Miller and Hilda R. Miller.

After high school, Charles served four years in the Navy and was stationed in Florida. After 26 years of working at Gaines Motor Lines, he “retired” and committed the next 20 years to JK Landscaping, driving a dump truck.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Sylvia Miller; brother, John H. Miller Jr.; brother-in-law, Kenny Kidwiler; and his horse, Doc.

To the family, I have known Charlie since the first day he started working for Gaines Motor Lines. I want to say that he always did a great job and took pride in his work and his truck. He was not only a great employee but he was a great friend as well. I use to love to hear his stories or should I say his adventures after he got off a trip. For those of you who knew him while he worked for us will agree those were the real days of trucking. He was such a pleasure to work with. I use to also love to hear his stories about the hobby he loved so much and that was riding his horse. He loved his horse. Charlie was also a true cowboy. Charlie will be missed by all. I want to say that prayers and thoughts go out to all his loved ones.
