Coyte Justus Beal

Coyte Justus Beal, age 97, of Newton, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Conover Nursing and Rehabilitation in Conover, NC. Born August 14, 1920 in Catawba County, NC, he was the son of the late Calvin W. Beal and Sallie Campbell Beal.

Coyte was a member of East First Street Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served on the Deacon Board and was voted Father of the Year by the church in 2000. Coyte was also an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 9th Infantry. He fought in two campaigns: the Rhineland and Central Europe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Spargo Beal; sons, Larry Beal and Wayne Beal; brothers, Ray Beal and Gaither Beal; and sister, Bernice Beal Barker.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter in-law, Joyce Beal Bolick; granddaughter, Tina Beal Shook and husband, Greg; great-grandchildren, Michael Shook, Chris Shook, and Casey Shook; great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Shook and Emily Shook; sister, Alice Barnes and husband, Tommy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at East First Street Baptist Church in Newton, NC, with Pastor Allen McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, NC.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Conover Nursing and Rehabiliation and Caldwell Hospice, for the care they had given to Coyte during his time at their facility.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
