

Donald Reese Green, known to many as “Donnie”, was born on Monday, December 15, 1947, in Brunswick, GA., to the late Joel David Green and Marguerite Rittenhouse Cox. Donnie spent many years of his life serving our military in the Army as a Ranger, serving three terms in Viet Nam earning two purple hearts and four bronze stars. Donnie was also in the Navy as an air traffic controller. He loved his country and was very proud to serve. He was a dedicated Patriot.
Donnie was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He also loved to cook for his family and friends while enjoying his music. He liked to stay busy throughout his working years, even in retirement he enjoyed building small projects, camping with his family and fishing. All who shared life with Donnie will cherish the memory of his kind heart, his devotion to those he loved, the pride he had in his children, and the radiant light he shared with everyone around him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Nora Rittenhouse and his brother, Bishop Charles Green.
More than anything Donnie loved his family. Those left to cherish his memory and legacy include his sister, Rosa Hill of Brunswick, Ga., daughter, Stephanie (Joseph) Aldridge of Hickory, NC; daughter Lori Green of Hickory, NC; daughter Donielle (late husband William) Martin of Jesup, Ga. and bonus sons, Chris Mobley of Jesup, Ga. and Mitch Owens of Bossier City, La., Grandchildren, Hunter Aldridge, Holden Aldridge, Harrison Aldridge, Zoey Baker, Wyatt Williams, Natalie Williams, Ayden Williams, great-grandchild, Peyton Aldridge.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
Upon waiting on details, and In accordance with his wishes, he will be laid to rest with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. A formal military honors service and interment at Arlington National Cemetery has been approved and will take place upon the cemetery's scheduling. Due to the scheduling process, the service is anticipated to be held next year. The family will announce the date and details once they are received.
