Dorothy Lynn Winkler Ellis

Dorothy Lynn Winkler Ellis, age 87, of Hickory, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Trinity Ridge in Hickory, NC. Born July 20, 1929, in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Allen Winkler and Mary Lucille Swanson Winkler.

Dorothy was a member of A New Beginning Assembly of God in Hickory, NC, and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred V. Ellis, and a grandson, Brad Ellis.

Survivors include her daughters, Ruth Lail and husband Hal of Conover, NC, and Becky Metcalf and husband Craig of Newton, NC; son, Joe Ellis of Valdese, NC; brother, Clarence A. Winkler of N. Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Jennifer Lail, David Lail, Wayne Metcalf, Joseph Metcalf, Brandon Ellis, and Kim Ellis; great-grandchildren, Ashton Metcalf and Eva Lail.

A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 17, 2017 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate and the burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory, NC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from

1:45 to 2:45 on Monday.

Dorothy’s grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
