Elizabeth Downs Bumgarner

Born December 26, 1941 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Edward Downs Sr. and Mabel Stone Downs. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Elbert Bumgarner; sons Carroll Merlin Bumgarner and Wayne Elbert Bumgarner, II; sisters, Carla and Shirley.

Survivors include a son, Edward A. Bumgarner and wife Kelly of Crowley, TX; daughters Sharrie Petree Deal and husband Mike of Hickory, Debra Bumgarner Stillwell of Conover, and Cheryl Bumgarner Haynes of Newton; grandchildren Jesse Haynes, Heather Haynes, Kristy Chapman, Steven Carrillo, Lacey Bumgarner, Kalista Stacey, David Bumgarner, Daniel Bumgarner, Edward Bumgarner, Stepanie Bumgarner, Joey Petree and Justin Petree; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Junior, Kenny, Dennis, Ronnie; sisters, Judy, Margaret, Phyllis, Sandy, Beverly and Paula.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Rev. Jerome Walker will officiate and burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
