Eunice Myrle Punch

Born July 25, 1924, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Elmore Lail and Lela Miller Lail.

She was a lifelong member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Conover. She had been active with the women of the church, Home Extension Club, St. Timothy Fire Department Auxiliary and served on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau.

She worked with her husband for over fifty years on their farm, and retired from Bassett Furniture.

She loved her church, family, and friends. She was known and loved by many as grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Johnny A. Punch Sr.; son, Johnny A. Punch, Jr.; two sisters, Loretta Huffman and Pearl Lail; three brothers, Dewey Lail, Clifford Lail, and John Deal.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Blalock and husband, Jerry of Claremont; daughter in-law, Judy Punch and husband, Gary of Hickory; seven grandchildren, Shelly Day of Hickory, Jennifer White and husband, Steve of Kings Mtn., NC, Keith Blalock and wife, Malina of Durham, NC, Michael Blalock of Asheville, Johnny Punch III and wife, Lisa of Hickory, Robert Punch of Lenoir, NC, and Andrea Punch and wife, Darleen of Hickory; eight great-grandchildren, Wesley Day, Andy Day and wife, Dallas, Jerrit Day, Wyatt Lovinger-Blalock, (Mason Blalock to be born October 30th ), Jordan Punch, Zachary Punch, and Logan Punch; and one great-great-grandaughter, Tatum Day; sister in-law, Shirley Mae Lail of Massachusetts; and special friends, Jeff Oxentine, Donna and Randy Richie and daughter, Sherry, Margaret and Jerry Whisnant and son, Michael.

We would like to thank Patti Carroll, Gale Flynn, and Leitha Mayfield for taking such good care of her.

The Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mary Miller-Zurrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
