Gracie Alice Matthews Bolick

Gracie Alice Matthews Bolick passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the age of 85. Gracie was born in Catawba County on Saturday, September 7, 1940 to the late Clarence Leroy Matthews and Helen Sigmon Matthews.

In addition to her parents, Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Bolick; daughters, Teresa Jones and Gilda Huffman; daughter in law, Donna Bolick; and brothers, Carl Lee Matthews, Perry Odell Matthews, James Allen Matthews; sisters, Doris Harris, Margaret Hefner, Georgia Goforth.

Gracie was loved by her family and friends. She worked at Sherrill Furniture as an upholstery sewer until retirement. Gracie was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover, NC.

Those left to cherish Gracie’s memory are her son, Terry Bolick; son in laws, Charlie Jones and JV Huffman; and seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service to honor Gracie’s life will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Eric Hauss officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 am to 11:45 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peter’s Church Rd. Conover, NC 28613. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
