James Dean Clanton Jr., age 65, of Conover, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his residence. Born November 8, 1947 in Newnan, Georgia, he was the son of James Dean Clanton Sr. and the late Peggy Oglesby Clanton. He was of the Baptist faith and worked as a chemist for Synthetics Finishing until his retirement. James served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and was an active member of the Hickory Elks Lodge #1654. He was a loving and supportive husband, son, brother, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years, Claudette Hollifield Clanton, of the home; father, James Dean Clanton Sr.; son, John Daniel Clanton and wife, Amy, of Hickory, NC; grandsons, John Aleric Clanton, Daniel James Clanton; sisters, Anna Reilly and husband, Mike, of Augusta, Georgia, Carol Morrison and husband, Jim, of Manchester, Georgia; nephew, Jason Rushing of Georgia.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service.
