James Delane Yount

Born June 20, 1928 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Oren Crouse Yount and Neva Virgil Reitzel Yount. James was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran in Conover, NC.

James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He graduated from St. Stephens High and retired from the Hickory Daily Record. He also was a photographer. He enjoyed gardening, church activities and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Ray Yount. They were married for 67 years.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his oldest son, Michael Delane Yount, and his sister, Doris Yount Fox.

Other survivors include, sons, Keith Alan Yount, Danny Ray Yount; daughters, Robin Y. Turner Gulledge, Alisa Taru Yount; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his sister Jewel Yount Wesson.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:45 pm, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Scott Bollinger will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Mt. Zion Lutheran Church or to Mt. Zion Boy Scouts.
