Jerry Lester Eckard

Born February 15, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Paul Ervin and Stella Viola Keller Eckard. Mr. Eckard was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover and had retired from Mid- State Paving. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and looking after his cows.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh “Buster” Eckard.

Mr. Eckard is survived by a sister Doris E. Lineberger and husband Harold of Conover; nieces, Melodee Frye of Taylorsville, Monica Boston of Maiden, Tracy Hamlin of Hickory; nephews, Doug Eckard of Hickory and Eric Lineberger of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Iona Eckard of Conover; and a number of great nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Bollinger officiating. Pallbearers serving the family will be Alan Keller, Doug Eckard, Danny Lail, Eric Lineberger, Kevin Frye, and Boyd Cook. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
