Jimmy Dale Bentley

Jimmy Dale Bentley, age 65, of Hickory, NC, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Sherrills Ford, NC. Born December 8, 1952, in Alexander County, NC, he was the son of Dorthey Mae Bentley Connell of Taylorsville, NC, and the late James William Bentley.

Jimmy had worked at Hickory White and Sherrill Furniture Co. for over 30 years. He enjoyed hiking, riding his motorcycle, photography, gun smithing, and target shooting. Jimmy was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Roosevelt.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish Jimmy’s memory are his children, Jeremy and Jill; brother, Danny Bentley (Pamela) of Claremont, NC; sisters, Juanita Deal of Conover, NC, and Sheila Bailey (Terry “Mac” McLaughlin) of Marion, NC; nieces and nephew, Summer Blackburn (Chad) of Vale, NC, Shane Bentley (Jonna) of Olin, NC, Misty Coleman (Nathan) of Marion, NC; and great-nieces and nephews, Michaela, Trey, Tanner, Ty, Savannah and Peyton.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC with Rev. Eric Hollar officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 AM on Thursday.
