Joan retired as a histologist in the medical industry. She was very proud of her British citizenship and heritage and was well-traveled in addition to living in Europe, Asia and the U.S. She made a lot of friends around the world that she was still in contact with after many years.

Joan loved all animals big and small and has supported many causes through the years and also loved her flower gardens, especially her beautiful roses this time of year.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Leona Bolton and husband, Bryan Dula of Conover, NC; sons, David Bolton and wife, Barbara of Longview, NC, Dale Bolton and girlfriend, Sharon of Catawba, NC; sister, Janet Thompson of Hudson, FL; brother, Terry Collard and wife, Angela of Broadstairs, Kent, England; grandchildren, Stevie Bolton, Lindsey Bortz, Austin Bolton, and Ally Grace Dula; great-grandsons, Kamden and Lincoln.

A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover, NC, on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, Joan’s wish was for anyone wanting to make a donation in her memory, to consider donating supplies or money to any animal welfare organization.

“If roses grow in heaven, Lord, please pick a bunch for me, place them in my mother’s arms and tell her they’re from me”. (by Delores M. Garcia)

My Mother
When I was born it was you and me
When I went to school it was you and me
When I went into the world it was you and me
When I failed it was you and me
When I triumphed it was you and me
When you passed it was still you and me
Love will always be you and me
