Wayne was born on Saturday, April 9, 1966 to the late Bascom Clayton Hughes and Clara Hicks Hughes.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Hughes.
Wayne was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid fisherman.
Those left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his son, Joshua Bumgarner; brother, James Hughes; sisters, Debra Walker (Dean), Mary Hughes (Donnie), Neese Aiken; and grandchildren, Jaiden Bumgarner, Caleb Kirby, and Daelon Workman.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1pm to 1:45pm at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 5382 Unity Church Rd., Hickory, NC 28602.
A funeral service for Wayne will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Blankenship officiating.
