Martha Lee Pope Carpenter

She was born April 25, 1920 to Earl Henderson Pope and Villa Moser Pope of Catawba County.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Loy Herman Carpenter; father, Earl Henderson Pope; mother, Villa Moser Pope; son, Earl Herman “Hum” Carpenter, brother, Bobbie Pope; and sister, Earline P. Seitz.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Carpenter of Conover; grandson, Eric Todd Carpenter of Pumpkin Center; brother, James W. “Son” Pope of Claremont; daughter-in-law, Ginger Carpenter of Claremont; sister-in-law, Ernestine Morrow; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Gary Haddock. Inurnment will follow at the church’s cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home in Conover.
